Harmonikids Hohner-Sponsored Holiday Session for the Boys & Girls Club of Carson
30 December, 2024
On December 23, 2024 I provided a special Holiday Hohner-sponsored Harmonikids session to 20 underserved child participants at the the Boys & Girls Club of Carson program. All were fully focused and engaged throughout the session. The room was filled with excitement and enthusiasm. The kids giggled with joy and astonishment as I entertained them. Then I handed them new Hohner harmonicas on which I gently taught them to accurately play five songs - which to their delight included holiday favorites Jingle Bells and Silent Night. They beamed with pride at their immediate success. It made a positive difference in the lives of these youth - joyfully boosting their confidence and self esteem. For many it was the first experience of learning to make music on a real musical instrument. Attached below is some feedback received from supervisors the Carson Boys & Girls Club sessions.

Dear Gary,
Thank you for the incredible harmonica workshop you led with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carson.
The kids gained so much more than just a new musical skill. The confidence they gained through your guidance was truly remarkable. Many of them have never had the opportunity to explore music in such a hands-on way, and it was heartwarming to see them light up as they learned to play. The fact that each member received their own harmonica just in time for the holidays made the experience even more special.
The kids couldn’t wait to show their parents what they had learned. It was clear that they felt proud of what they had accomplished under your expert instruction. We are so grateful for your time, energy, and generosity in sharing your talent with our members. You’ve made a lasting impression, and we’re sure your influence will continue to inspire them long after the workshop.
Thank you once again for making such a meaningful contribution to their lives. We look forward to the possibility of working with you again in the future!

The harmonica lessons were an absolute hit with the kids, who had a blast learning to play and discovering the joy of music through harmonicas! A standout moment came from one of our members, Shane, who was so inspired that he practiced the very next day and couldn’t wait to perform “Jingle Bells” for his family on Christmas.
BGCC is truly grateful for your generosity and dedication in taking the time to teach our members, giving them the invaluable opportunity to explore music and build their confidence. Your efforts have left a lasting impact, and we deeply appreciate your support!
