Visit from Dwayne Verheyden
03 April, 2025
A dream comes true!
The week at HOHNER Musikinstrumente GmbH began with a very special event: the talented Dutch accordion player Dwayne Verheyden came to visit. Dwayne, known for his passion for Tex-Mex music and a big fan of the legendary Flaco Jiménez, fulfilled a long-cherished dream with this visit.
Dwayne learnt to play the accordion at the age of seven. His career began as a teenager in local music groups, where he quickly became known for his talent and stage presence. With his accordion and a passion for the lively rhythms of Tex-Mex music, he has thrilled audiences across Europe. His ability to combine traditional melodies with modern influences has earned him a loyal fan base and made him a sought-after performer at festivals and music clubs.
As well as performing, Dwayne is also active as a teacher, giving workshops to inspire the next generation of accordion players.
For Dwayne, the visit to HOHNER, the traditional manufacturer of musical instruments, was an unforgettable experience. ‘It felt like I was a kid in a candy shop,’ he enthused. Surrounded by the iconic accordions that have shaped the world of music, Dwayne was able to experience his enthusiasm for music and instruments first-hand.
During his visit, Dwayne had the opportunity to speak with HOHNER employees who gave him an insight into the artistry of harmonica and accordion making. ‘It's impressive to see how much passion and craftsmanship goes into each instrument,’ said Dwayne.
As a special surprise and thank you for the employees, the Dutch artist played a little concert during the break.
The connection between Dwayne and HOHNER is not only a personal one, but also a musical one. As a Tex-Mex musician, Dwayne endeavours to preserve and pass on the traditions of this unique style of music. ‘HOHNER has made a huge impact on the Tex-Mex music scene, and it's an honour to be here,’ he added.
Dwayne Verheyden's visit to HOHNER is another example of how music enriches people's lives. HOHNER is pleased to support artists like Dwayne and encourage their love of music.
